Beatrix Ong Company History.

Beatrix Ong was born in 1976 in London, England. Spending her childhood in Hong Kong she is a graduate of some of the most prestigious design schools in the world including Central St. Martins, London, The Fashion Institute of Technology, New York and of course the renowned Cordwainers College, London.

Her experience that ranges from interning at the Fashion Department of US magazine Harpers Bazaar to designing for Jimmy Choo is affirmation of her solid pedigree in fashion.

Wanting to push the boundaries of beautiful shoemaking was always at the heart of Ong’s decision to go solo. Another reason was the challenge of making shoes that were comfortable enough for women to wear during the day, yet special enough for them to carry on wearing in the evening.

September 2002 saw Beatrix Ong mix ambition with dreams and her first collection was launched at London Fashion Week. It immediately caught the imagination of international press and buyers alike, leading the brand to be stocked over 30 prestigious stores worldwide in its first season.

In 2003, the Independent Newspaper named Ong as one of the 10 Leading Shoe Designers and in 2004 the front cover of Shoo magazine proclaimed, ‘Beatrix Ong: The New Choo’.

The new flagship Beatrix Ong store opened in 2004 in the charming area of Primrose Hill in North London. It houses the full collections of shoes, bags and small leather goods.

As well as designing her own collection, Ong has collaborated with some of the brightest stars in fashion. Since launching her collection, she has designed shoes made exclusively for Maria Chen-Pascual, Temperley and Pringle of Scotland. An on-going collaborative project with the celebrities’ favorite well-being brand, Holistic Silk takes form as an exclusive flight slipper.

In 2005, a new highly anticipated creative relationship begins with avant-garde fashion designer Tristan Webber. The first collaboration was launched at London Fashion Week in February 2005 at Webber’s scheduled catwalk show.

Also in 2005, Beatrix Ong was commissioned to create a special one-off piece for the Financial Times. ‘With a Spring in Her Step’ will be displayed in the London offices of the Financial Times from April 2005.

Ong has been invited to create an illustration for a unique exhibition supported by Buena Vista International and its new film release ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’, which will have its world premiere in London in April 2005.

Already with an established fan base world wide, Beatrix Ong continues to grow as a leading British yet thoroughly international luxury brand.
