Considered one of fashions greatest visionaries, Emmy award winning, film and television costume designer and boutique owner with her own clothing label, Patricia Field recently raised the standards for the world of television glamour when costumed “Sex and the City”, the most fashionable show in television history. Critics praised her run with “Sex and the City’s” stunning and always entertaining costuming, as it was a large part of the show’s status as a cultural phenomenon. Fashion editors, socialites and celebrities alike adorned Field’s clothing, emulated her style and sat front row at her House of Field fashion shows. A true pioneer, Field brought forth a new style of dressing to American women and through the media, she was able to stimulate an entire fashion movement which is sure to last for decades.
While the days of “Sex and the City” have come to an end, the glamorous reign of Field will live on and transcend into several new projects that wills truely turn heads! Not only is Field currently the acting costume designer on ABC’s “Hope and Faith", she is in the production stages of costuming the Broadway musical “The Opposite of Sex” and is creating and directing the DKNY short film “The Cocktail Party” which is slated the show at The Tribeca Film Festival. This Summer Candie’s Commission Field to design their limited edition collection of footwear and accessories, “Vintage Candies by Patricia Field" to debut Spring 2005. Field also launched her “Lets Vote” tee to make politics trendy, which will be sold at Hotel Venus. Proceeds from the sale of the $24 tops will go to Rock the Vote, a nonprofit organization that encourages young people to vote. In the past few months Field has also designed costumes in Athens for the Creek Music awards and directed costuming for the musical Barbarella in Vienna. All this and Field will still be overseeing the management of her store and the production of her own fashion forward celebrity adorned designers which sell at Hotel Venus; Field’s West Broadway boutique in Soho.
As a costume designer for almost twenty years now Field's impressive list of design projects, both in film and television include the hit television shows “Crime Story” "Wise guy” and "Spin City”. Film Projects include Miami Rhapsody (where she first met Sarah Jessica Parker, the Substitute and Dear Diary. In 1989 she received an Emmy for Outstanding Costumes for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special for Disney’s Television feature “Mother Goose Rock and Rhyme.” She just received a second Emmy nomination for Outstanding Costumes for a Series for her trend-setting fashions on HBO’s “Sex and the City” after winning her fist last year. Countless awards include Stylist of the Year by the CFDA (a new award category created on the principle of Field’s work), the Albert Einstein award for innovation and Fashion Council’s Accessories Award for making accessories prominent and highly desired on the fashion scene
